Misha & Lena
He sent me a video of himself rapping in a ridiculous accent. Made for the boys.
"Send it to her."
"No way. I look way too childish."
"That's the version of you she needs to see."
He sent it.
Misha thought his problem was lines and tactics. It was a mask. He didn't believe the goofy, funny version of himself was good enough to be loved — so no woman had ever met the actual man.
Then the other half. He had married the first woman who liked him back, and spent a decade asking whether women liked him instead of whether he liked them. We turned that around. He got specific and unapologetic about the woman he wanted, and started choosing from abundance instead of gratitude.
He met Lena during our work. Two years after that video, I gave the best man speech at their wedding. In Russian.
Married, with two boys.
